I'm working on a Kingsley gen fic post OoTP. What I was wondering was, what happened to Kingsley after the battle in the Department of Mysteries? We know he was injured in the fighting but since everyone else seemed pretty healed up by the end it seems unlikely that he would still be in, say, St. Mungos. So, what was he doing?
1) If we accept the fact that he was a senior Auror (after all he was put in charge of finding Sirius) then he'd have some serious questions to answer. The Minister is bound to want to know why he, (and to a lesser extent Tonks) was at the Ministry, how long he'd been allied with Dumbledore etc. Could his job have been put in danger?
2) The Order didn't want to reveal too many of their members to any watching Voldemort supporters at the train station, so Kingsley didn't show his face to say goodbye to Harry.
3) He was sent on some as yet unknown mission for the Order/the Ministry.
4) He blamed himself as the senior Auror for not being able to stop Sirius going to the Ministry and stayed away to lick his wounds.
Additions? Thoughts? Critique?
